    Minimum Wage Increases: As of Jan. 1, 2023, the California state minimum wage will increase to $15.50 for all employers, regardless of employee headcount. This also means that as of Jan. 1, 2023, exempt employees in California must be paid a minimum annual salary of $64,480.

    “Living wage ordinances” in various locales within the state have been enacted, so local standards should be confirmed to ensure compliance with all governing wage requirements.

    In new interim guidelines released Tuesday by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, federal officials sought to clarify the distinctions between brokers, bona fide agents, and dispatch services.

    While the FMCSA acknowledged that dispatch services “can help to ensure the motor carrier has a steady stream of shipments” that allow them to concentrate on moving freight, how they carry out that duty can determine whether they fall under FMCSA authority and are therefore required to have a $75,000 bond to safeguard their motor carrier customers from nonpayment

    The Volvo Group and Pilot Company, the largest operator of travel centers in North America, have signed a Letter of Intent to develop a national, public charging network to support the scaling of battery-electric Volvo VNR Electric trucks. To accelerate the development of the charging network, Pilot Company intends to install high-performance charging infrastructure at the selected existing networks of Pilot and Flying J travel centers across the U.S. and will be open to heavy-duty vehicles of all brands.
