California Air Resources Board (CARB) staff invite you to participate in a listening session focused on the topic: Zero-Emission Trucks – How Do We Get There?
The goal of this listening session is to hear experiences, feedback, and/or suggestions for how CARB can further encourage commercial vehicle owners to use cleaner technology such as zero-emission trucks, and better support them in this process. We are seeking input from the people in our State who are impacted by poor air quality and have been advocating for cleaner transportation and from medium- and heavy-duty truck owners, including smaller fleets, who will benefit most from improvements to funding programs and other resources that CARB is developing to support them.
Date: July 28, 2022

Background
To meet California's health-based air quality standards and greenhouse gas emission reduction goals, the trucks and buses operated in the State and the fuel they use must be transformed away from petroleum. The goal is to transition truck and bus fleets to zero-emissions by 2045 everywhere feasible and significantly earlier for certain market segments such as drayage applications. Several regulations have been put in place or are in development to achieve these goals:
CARB is providing funding assistance, planning resources, and other support to fleets purchasing zero-emission vehicles and staff is looking to further understand what fleets need to successfully transition to these new technologies and improve upon existing programs. Throughout this effort, CARB aims to prioritize underserved communities and small truck fleets.
This listening session will be one of several opportunities to engage on the topic of accelerating and supporting zero-emission adoption and more information will be shared ahead of the meeting, including accompanying slides, and/or questions that CARB hopes to ask attendees. This meeting will also be recorded and shared following the event on the meeting webpage.
The comments heard in this listening session will help CARB, other California agencies, and local governments to strategize and develop California’s next steps towards a more accessible zero-emission future. This could include changes to funding programs, more technical assistance, new training opportunities, improvements to outreach strategies, suggestions to the California legislature, new policies, programmatic changes, and more.
