We live in a fast-money society. The faster we get paid, the better. But in trucking, where getting paid in 30-60 days for hauling a load is the norm, fast money can be difficult to earn. What can truckers or trucking companies do for steadier and quicker cash flow?

Sure, they can try Quick Pay, which is also considered broker quick pay. That could work, but it isn’t really all that quick. At Apex Capital, we have a better solution. Our new blynk™ digital payment system gets our factoring clients paid in a matter of minutes after their freight invoices are processed. Let’s compare Quick Pay to blynk™ and see which one gets you paid faster. Read more here.

Do you want an owner-operator, which is also referred to as an independent contractor? Or do you want to hire a company driver? Each has their own legal and taxable classification. In another sign that California is not on board with many of the federal government’s attempts to force compliance on various issues, the state has asked a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals panel to require trucking companies to comply with the state’s labor law codified in Assembly Bill 5. AB 5 put into place the ABC test which lays out a series of rules as to how workers are classified.

Freight carriers have been attempting to skirt the law by saying it is at odds with federal regulations. In a lawsuit, the California Trucking Association (CTA) argued the federal law should preempt state law because many carriers are involved in interstate commerce and that it is unfair to have different rules just because a trucker passes over a state border.

With fuel being such a large expense for truckers and trucking companies, discounts on diesel fuel are a necessity. But they can be a chore to find. Busy over-the-road truckers don’t have the time to Google search truck stop after truck stop with potential diesel fuel savings along their route. That’s when a fuel finder is a handy tool. A fuel finder can help truckers pinpoint exactly where the diesel discounts are right along their hauling path. It basically works like a GPS that details how much you can save and where.

But over at TransConnect Services (TCS), we believe that truckers and trucking companies should get more from a fuel finder. We want to give our clients more than just a fuel finder that locates those truck stops and fuel savings. Read more here and find out the four reasons why using the TCS Fuel Finder can help truckers.

Traditionally, the Federal Reserve, the central bank of the United States, has raised interest rates once there was a sign of inflation, but in a historic about face, Fed Chair Jerome Powell has announced a change in monetary policy, indicating the Fed would keep short-term interest rates at near zero for as many as the next five years even if inflation increased.

At a speech during the Fed’s annual conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Powell said, “Forty years ago the biggest problem our economy faced was high and rising inflation.” But, as inflation has consistently remained under the Fed’s target of 2%, Powell believes “a robust job market can be sustained without causing an outbreak of inflation.”

Truckers don't report to work and sit at a desk in a cubicle. Their office is a moving 18-wheeler that weighs about 35,000 pounds and treks up and down the highway. Being off-duty for truckers isn't like most of us going on break at work. Sometimes they are off the clock but still need to drive their truck. That's exactly why the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) established personal conveyance. It is the trucker's "off-duty status."

But it’s not that simple as the subject of personal conveyance can get complicated and confusing. Many truckers wonder what exactly qualifies and doesn't qualify as personal conveyance. Also, what are the specific rules of personal conveyance? We have some answers for you. We break down personal conveyance 101 style. Read more here and walk away with valuable personal conveyance knowledge – from what is it to what does and doesn’t qualify.
